Moonrakers
Moonrakers are an Oxford-based multi-instrumental trio playing mainly Celtic traditional and self-penned material, including male and female vocals. Abi Strevens (flute,vocal) and Anna Lockett (harps) are both trained at the Guildhall School of Music. Jon Bennett (guitar, cittern, vocal, whistles, bodhran) has recorded with several professional bands, produced three previous albums and is a published songwriter.
The band's debut album “Both Sides” is full of rich textures and unusual arrangements, ranging from the simple beauty of O'Carolan tunes to more complex instrumental interplay of several dance tunes. Jon & Abi's vocal harmonies combine in songs such as Northern Coast , described by Robin Williamson (formerly of The Incredible String Band) as “a truly great song”.
Moonrakers are Artists in Residence at Camelot Castle , Tintagel, and frequent performers in concerts, weddings and folk clubs around Oxfordshire.
